About the Trainer

Hi, my name is Kathy Fagan.  If you’re ready to turn your English speaking abilities into effective communication, I am ready to help. I’m a native speaker who has spent years studying a second language myself. I believe that when you’re relaxed and confident, it becomes easier to use the knowledge you already have.

My goal is to give you the support and encouragement you need to take speaking risks. With repeated success, you will be motivated to reach higher and farther.

I have a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate from Lado International College, an independently-accredited organization. I am a member of the professional organizations TESOL and Penn TESOL-East. I have a B.A. in Communications and Intercultural Studies. My past experience includes teaching to adults and children at the Instituto Cultural Dominico-Americano as well as ESL tutoring at the Donley Center in Allentown. In addition to private tutoring, I currently volunteer at the Center for Literacy in Philadelphia.

I have been a professional radio announcer, which included years of public speaking training. I also have more than 20 years of professional experience in the corporate and R&D workplace (AT&T Microelectronics, Bell Labs, Cadence Design Systems, IBM),  so I’m uniquely qualified to help with business, technical and academic English.

What’s most important, though, is for you to have personal access to a friendly native speaker in a low-stress environment. Let’s speak English together!
